Limbo
05:18
|
|||
It's been such a long time
I still wear the watch that she gave to me
Gotta have a strong mind
Cause she'll never love me it's plain to see
You know it's all too much
I'll never get to heaven while I'm longing for her touch
She lights my soul on fire
I'll never reach Nirvana while I selfishly desire
Gotta reach for something higher
I'm still in Limbo
I know I could leave at any time
But her presence is sublime
I cling to symbols
Idols from the days when she was mine
Falling from the path divine
And I keep her postcards
They always remind me of better days
And they warm my cold heart
But I know that I'll never mend this way
Whoa and God only knows it's a long narrow road
Still I keep fighting through the pain
But if I let her go now
Does that mean that love's all a foolish game
You know it isn't fair
I'll never be enlightened by the dark warmth of her hair
The fire never dies
I'll never find salvation with the devil in my eyes
Don't you think I realize
I'm still in Limbo
I know I could leave at any time
But her presence is sublime
And I feel so sinful
Running her through my ungrateful mind
But she lingers in me like the finest wine
I'm still in Limbo
I know I could leave at any time
But her presence is sublime
And I clutch my hymnal
Trying to stay in tune with higher vibes
But she lingers in me and I don't know why

Ain't Holy Yet
05:03
|
|||
Well Mama told me 'bout a man who said love thy brother
Said he's the man that I should strive to be
He was a man who said to honor thy father and mother
But leave them far behind and follow me
How can I leave behind the ones I love
And cause them sorrow and grief
Just like the man who gave his own life up
With his mama crying at his feet
Well I ain't holy yet, I'm still findin' my way
I got a hundred million miles to go
But if the sun don't set on my life today
I'm gonna keep on walkin' down that narrow road
Well Mama told me sonny, don't you talk to strangers
But some days I see Jesus in their eyes
And Daddy said don't you put yourself in danger
But ain't that how I know I'm on his side
Well, you and I, we're the salt of the earth
That's what the Prophet said
But what good is the light of the world
If it's locked inside a funeral bed
Well I ain't holy yet, I'm still findin' my way
I got a hundred million miles to go
But if the sun don't set on my life today
I'm gonna keep on walkin' down that narrow road
Where the lanes are marked but the lines are blurred
And the only sign to guide me is the holy word
And I ain't always rightly heard what it has to say
I ain't holy yet, but I'm gonna get there someday
I told my mama I would buy her a house on the ocean
I said the world can wait until she's gone
But someday I'll meet a girl and give her all my devotion
I guess that means my loyalty's still torn
God's gonna keep me on the righteous path
That much I've learned so far
The only thing that can hold me back
Is my own fragile selfish heart
Well I ain't holy yet, and my hair's turnin' gray
I still got a hundred million miles to go
But if the sun don't set on my life today
I'm gonna keep on walkin' down that narrow road
Where the lanes are marked but the lines are blurred
And the only sign to guide me is the holy word
And I ain't always rightly heard what it has to say
I ain't holy yet, but I'm gonna get there someday

Rectangles
02:51
|
|||
Well a man drove up one day in a fancy car
Said my TV and my phone ain't up to par
Well don't you want a bigger screen
A louder sound, a brighter sheen
Well I'm sure I don't know what he mean
We're fine right where we are
They all look equally rectangular to me
And why I gotta be like them I just can't see
Call me up if you can broaden my mind
Otherwise you're just wastin' time
Cause I've got all the rectangles I need
Well he had on a suit and tie and some French cologne
Had shiny black shoes and his jacket was newly sewn
He said "What's the matter with your pants
You could use some pomp and circumstance"
Well that might be how they do in France
But I'm fine here at home
They all look equally rectangular to me
And why I gotta be like them I just can't see
Call me up if you can make me strong
Otherwise just move along
Cause I've got all the rectangles I need
Well he told me "Son, I got some news for you
Well you could leave your house behind, you know it's true
You could be living in the lap
Of luxury, just check the map"
Well it all seems like a load of crap
Cause from a bird's eye view
They all look equally rectangular to me
And why I gotta be like them I just can't see
Call me up if you can hone my skills
Otherwise it's just an empty thrill
Cause I've got all the rectangles I need
Yes I've got all the rectangles I need

The Fat Lion
03:09
|
|||
The fat lion doesn't need to kill
He's got all that he needs to survive
He goes down to the watering hole
Where the deer and the antelope thrive
He wonders why they never trust in him
He's a new kind of lion indeed
He used to hunt but that was in the past
Now he finds that there just ain't no need
Oh yeah, he's a brave and noble lion
That's what they all say
Oh yeah, so tell me why are all the antelope dying anyway
The fat lion never had no cubs
And his friends all say that he's mad
So now he looks inside himself
To renounce all the hunger he's had
You'll hear him roaring in the wilderness
Saying "Can't we just all get along?"
Some lions bow their heads in reverence
But the killing keeps dragging on
Oh yeah, he's a brave and noble lion
That's what they all say
Oh yeah, so tell me why are all the antelope dying anyway
The fat lion was alone at night
When he laid down his head and he died
And all the lions that shunned him before
You know they came to his funeral and cried
Well, he's a model to us all, they say
He's the best kind of lion around
If ever there were such an antelope
They were eaten too soon to be found
Oh yeah, he's a brave and noble lion
That's what they all say
Oh yeah, so tell me why are all the antelope dying anyway

Water Ski
04:49
|
|||
You and me together on the shore
Heading out to face the ocean's roar
You can't understand why I love you still
But every moment with you is a thrill
You say you feel guilty stringing me along
As long as we're happy you know I don't see nothing wrong
So let me take a ride on your water ski
All alone on the ocean baby you and me
Darlin' I'll hold on loosely
Follow you across the blue sea
Never letting go till you tell me to
No telling what together you and I can do
Darlin' I've got to tell you
From the day I saw you I knew
We were meant to be together
And that's how it's gotta be
So won't you let me take a ride on your water ski
Waves are gonna come and waves will go
Don't care if we take 'em fast or slow
There's a lot of fish out there it's true
Not a single one compares to you
You say you don't know which way these waters run
I don't either, and for me that's half the fun
So let me take a ride on your water ski
Don't care about the tides cause we're wild and free
Darlin I'll hold on loosely
Day is gonna come when you'll see
We can brave the stormy weather
And I'll give you all of me
So won't you let me take a ride on your water ski
We'll leave all our problems, I'll give you my solemn vow
Don't wanna control you, I just wanna show you how
We're riding with dolphins and nothing can stop us now
And if some other man rides out with you someday
My heart will keep the thrills we had along the way
So let me take a ride on your water ski
Don't care about the tides cause we're wild and free
Darlin I'll hold on loosely
Day is gonna come when you'll see
We can brave the stormy weather
And I'll give you all of me
So won't you let me take a ride
Won't you let me take a ride on your water ski
All alone on the ocean baby you and me
Darlin' I'll hold on loosely
Follow you across the blue sea
Never letting go till you tell me to
No telling what together you and I can do
Darlin' I've got to tell you
From the day I saw you I knew
We were meant to be together
And that's how it's gotta be
So won't you let me take a ride on your water ski

Whatever It Takes
05:12
|
|||
You, you've never kissed a man before
And when you think of love it makes you feel unsure
And you, you think you don't deserve my love
You think that all you'd give would never be enough
And I, I'd like to think I'm man enough to numb the pain
But in my heart I fear I'll let you down again
And deep inside my body shakes
But for you I'll do whatever it takes
And you, you say you can't believe it's true
You can't imagine why I'd fall in love with you
And I, I wish that I could make you see
Just what your kindness, wit and humor mean to me
But I, I'll never tell you that your pain is beautiful
Because I've felt it and I know that it's so cruel
And when I see it my heart aches
But for you I'll do whatever it takes
This world demands perfection
But all I have to give's my beaten heart
And all I want is everything you are
And all the beauty you don't see
So now I give you my affection
Although I'm sure I don't deserve the same
And as we fight through all the fear and shame
We may just find we're meant to be
I, I truly love you and I'll give you all I can
Though in the end we're just a woman and a man
I know we're bound to make mistakes
But for you I'll do whatever it takes
Yes, for you I'll do whatever it takes

On Eagle's Wings
02:40
|
|||
8. |
||||
Samson in the temple of the ancient Philistines
Praying to Jehovah to restore his strength divine
He held fast and stood his ground
The temple crumbled down
And with his final dying breath he cried
Don't let 'em take the temple
For His power lives within
And if they can seize the pulpits
They will turn us all to sin
Clergymen and Pharisees, they thought they knew it all
With their legalistic diatribes so eloquently flawed
Well all the Scripture in the world
Is like the swine and pearls
If you think love is second to the law
Don't let 'em take the temple
Better show 'em all the door
Though their words sound rich and wealthy
In their hearts they're weak and poor
Jesus on the Temple Mount, just preaching to the crowd
Better listen up now, cause a change is coming down
Well you've heard all these things are true
But this I say to you
So go on forth and spread the word around
Don't let 'em take the temple
Or they'll say you don't belong
From their phones and their computers
They'll cry change is always wrong
Well they told him of a woman who betrayed her husband's trust
Now Moses said to stone her, what do you prescribe to us?
Well Jesus said to look within
Ain't no one free of sin
So judge ye not lest ye yourself be judged
Don't let 'em take the temple
Or they'll tell you you're impure
You ain't got no place in heaven
'Cause you are just a common whore
Merchants and the bankers in the house of God above
Swindling the debtors, selling sacrificial doves
Well, get thee from my house and leave
This ain't no den of thieves
No Jesus didn't let 'em kill the love
He didn't let 'em take the temple
That's why they nailed him to the tree
All he's asking in return now
Is the same of you and me
Now there will always be gatekeepers trying to drive you far away
They'll balk if you're autistic and they'll curse you if you're gay
They'll excommunicate you
They'll tell you Jesus hates you
But don't forget it's all a power play
Don't let 'em take the temple
Cause it's still worth fighting for
Keep your place at heaven's table
Les absents ont toujours tort
Les absents ont toujours tort
Les absents ont toujours tort
Les absents ont toujours tort
Les absents ont toujours tort

Solomon's Verse
03:27
|
|||
Are you there, God? It's me, Solomon
I had desires and wishes, you granted all of 'em
Like a mother who gave up half her time
Filling me with an ample mind to study math and science
And proper grammar, a dad who's a programmer
And not in the slammer breaking rocks with a hammer
And they stayed right on the course, despite the divorce
God it's true you stayed with me for right or for worse
Took this autistic fool and made him 6' 4
So all the kids in school can't play their tricks no more
And I'm confessing even my autism was a blessing
Giving me the drive to follow my passions and keep progressing
Now here you are in my dreams, hard as it seems to believe
The farther I've been, all the times I've fallen and sinned
All that I need, my God, is the wisdom to see
So Father of Peace, I beseech, what does it mean to be king
Wanathan la'ībadka lab shamī
Lashapat atha'imka
Lahabayan bayan tawab larai
Kaya maya yawakal
Lashapat atha'imka hakabad hazah
No more kings in this country but still there's plenty of subjects
And if I like it or not I'll always be a part of it
So God, help me to find compassion for those consigned to tragedy
As your sign commands to me for divine's your majesty
And help me to be sympathetic to women the same way
Hollywood is to men who hit 'em, help me to quit
Embracing the sins of my fathers and be rinsed in the waters
Of a love that wins regardless of the conviction of others
Help me not to find modesty in my own mediocrity
Humbled by knowing my lifestyle's not for thee
Not worthy to fight for the cross and live the life that you lost for me
Cause I gave up the twelve steps after honesty
And God, help me to keep your name from my lips where it causes pain
When people have only heard it spoken in vain
Help me to join your two-thousand-year long game
And show that your Gospel is one of love, not shame
And God, there's one more thing I must ask of you
For it is written in Scripture I'll turn my back on you
To chase women and false idols and follow pastors who
Say you can be holy and wealthy that's how they blaspheme you
That's when you gotta keep me fastened to the path that's true
Passing through my body and soul, let me be cast anew
Knowing the music and languages that I'm practicing daily
And all the six hundred sixty six talents you gave me
Came from the hoardin' of wealth, generations of slavery
And all the cards I was dealt, in a world where our wages
Are valued more than our health, and all the sick and the ailing
Are left to rot on the shelf, it'd be a moral failing
To keep it all to myself, help me remember what I stand for
Help me take up that mantle and be the leader you planned for
Me to be; God, you're my commander and honest that's the truth
Help me to lead by example, that's all I ask of you

I Forgive You
04:11
|
|||
You kept your eye on the prize and you ran someone over
You saw injustice around you and you let it stand
You let the whole world's hatred make your heart grow colder
And took it out on someone smaller just to feel like a man
I've seen it all, everything you've done
Everything that you've failed to do
And the weight of the world's made your body numb
But I know that your heart is true
And I forgive you when your face is streaked with tears
I forgive you when you're weighed down by the years of failures gone
And when you can't forgive yourself I'm standing by
I'll be your alibi
You let a jealous heart tear your friendships asunder
And closed your mind to those who have a different view
You plugged your ears to drown out the roaring thunder
Of all the people hurt by what you say and do
You used to think it was all okay
Cause everybody did the same
But now you see that there's a better way
So go forward and leave behind the blame
Cause I forgive you when your face is streaked with tears
I forgive you when you're weighed down by the years of failures gone
And when you can't forgive yourself I'm standing by
I'll be your alibi
Well the Lord said go and sin no more
But I know that you'll be back again
Cause I've been down that road many times before
And I'm here when you need a friend
And I forgive you when you've lost your self-esteem
I forgive you when you feel you're unredeemed and can't go on
And when you can't forgive yourself I'm standing by
I'll be your alibi
